Get the most from your organic selenium supplementation.

Selenium (Se) is an essential trace mineral for animal nutrition.

Selenium plays a key role in antioxidant defense, immunity, reproduction, and inflammatory modulation processes.  While inorganic Se is commonly used for feed supplements, recent research confirmed that organic Se, specifically selenomethionine (SeMet) or hydroxy-selenomethionine (OH-SeMet), is much more easily integrated into the body.

Selisseo® is an organic source of selenium consisting of hydroxy-selenomethionine or HMSeBA and is FDA approved for use in poultry, swine, and cattle in the US and approved for use in all species in Canada.

Even in challenging conditions, performance will be supported.

Animals experience various stresses throughout their life. To restore the antioxidant balance and performance of the animal, Adisseo offers Selisseo. Watch this video to learn more about selenium and Selisseo.

New Episode of Swine It Podcast Available Now

In this episode, podcast host Dr. Laura Greiner has a great conversation with Dr. Darlene Bloxham, a Technical Analyst at Adisseo. Dr. Bloxham digs into the main questions about selenium supplementation, including the main differences between selenium sources, the inclusion limit, and the ways to supplement it in different production phases, among other topics. Listen to the episode for more information.

A new scientific paper has been published

The development of new advanced analytical methods, by Vacchina et al., 2021, has allowed the additional selenium species in Seleno-Yeast products to be further quantified.  With these advancements in selenium speciation, we conducted the recently published study which revealed the presence of elemental Selenium, an inorganic form of selenium, in the tested Seleno-Yeast products. The study also confirmed the high variability of the selenomethionine content in Seleno-Yeast.

Supporting a Successful Sow Through Selenium

We all want a successful sow in our production system, but how do we support the successful sow?

Listen as Dr. Darlene Bloxham shares how she suggests today’s successful sow should be supported. This presentation occurred during a recent SwineTalks event by Wisenetix.
